Costco Greenhouse| Yardistry

\Having a small greenhouse is really helpful for gardening. It protects plants from bad weather and provides the right conditions for them to grow well. Inside the greenhouse, plants get the right amount of warmth and humidity, which makes them grow faster and stronger. It also lets you garden all year round and try out different plants that might not normally grow in your area. Overall, a small greenhouse makes gardening easier and more enjoyable.

I have wanted my own greenhouse since we bought our homestead. The first year we moved in mid summer so I had a very small garden full of starts I brought from Colorado/bought from local nurseries. The second year I bought shelves with grow lights and grew plants in my basement. It did ok but wasn’t super warm so my starts weren’t as good as I’d hoped they would be. This year I added tray warmers, which made everything I planted germinate but still had die off before I got everything planted. So this summer we got our greenhouse!

This greenhouse was sold out for months. I called our local Costco distribution center every week for 2 months trying to see when they would get them in. They kept saying “it says next week call back then” so I did and it still hadn’t come back into stock. I had finally just decided to give up on getting it when I said I’ll just check online one more time and see if they have them and to my surprise they did and I instantly bought it.

It took my husband and I about 6 days to put together. That was working on it a couple hours every day in the evenings after work. Along with 1 full Saturday with my father in law helping. It was pretty easy to put together and feels super sturdy.

We started with the base. We dug out all the grass and leveled it out. To secure it to the ground we drove 18” rebar through the wood at alternating angles all the way around. Then put commercial weed tarp down and filled with gravel.

My husband put together the sides and front and back. Then we put them all together to do the frame. Then came the roof. My in laws came up to our place to help finish up the roof, put in all the shelves and seal everything.

We finished up but drilling screws through the bottom of the greenhouse into the base all the way around. We have had 80+ mph winds since and haven’t had any issues with it.

I’ve since added hooks for hanging baskets and my indoor grow shelves for more space. It’s very sturdy and has lots of space to work. 10/10 would recommend.
